Toghill enjoys far reaching views towards the river Severn and Bristol Channel with the hills of Wales and the spectacular Brecon Beacons as a backdrop. It is the ideal spot from which to plan your exploration of the region.
To the north - Gloucester and Cheltenham are less than an hour away and Berkeley Castle, with its sinister grandeur, and the Wild Fowl Trust at Slimbridge are also close by. The arboretum at Tetbury, Dyrham house, its architecture and deer park and Badminton, the Mecca of three-day eventing, are ail within easy reach. To the south - within five minutes drive lies the city of Bath, with its elegant georgian crescents and remarkable roman baths. The city boasts one of the finest shopping centres in England and The Treatre Royal - venue for many preview showings of west end productions. |

To the east - within five minutes the unspoilt village of Castle Combe, and thirty minutes further on the picturesque village of Lacock, the birthplace of photography, with its museum and abbey. To the west - the city of Bristol has such attractions as the Avon gorge and Clifton suspension bridge, the SS Great Britain and the Maritime Museum, plus the attractively redeveloped dockside area, all accessible within thirty minutes. Further west the Severn bridge leads into Wales, to Chepstow, Tintern abbey and the picturesque Wye valley. |

From the M4 motorway
Leave the motorway at junction 18 and drive south towards Bath on the A46. At the A420 roundabout turn right and drive about 1 mile towards Bristol until the brow of Toghill is reached. Here turn left (signposted to Hamswell) and Toghill House Farm is on the right shortly after the turning.
From Bath Take the A46 (signposted to the M4) out of Bath. Con- tinue northwards until the A420 roundabout is reached. Here turn left and follow the directions given above for Toghill House Farm. |
